About Us
Sydney Automotive Paints & Equipment Pty Ltd (SAPE) was formed in New South Wales Australia in 1979 principally as a distributor of automotive refinishing products to the collision repair industry.
By 1980 SAPE was the dominant automotive paint and panel supplies distributor in metropolitan Sydney . The strong position achieved by the company resulted in the move to our current premises in 1984. Late 1984 the next stage of SAPE's development was completed with the industry's advanced Research & Development Centre.
Over the years SAPE has developed strong relationships with the top manufacturers in the USA , UK , Europe, Asia and Australia . The manufacturers include 3M, Autorobot, Celette, Hirane, Wieländer+Schill, Herkules, Hedson Technologies (IRT & Drester), Saima, Lowbake, BASF Coatings (Glasurit), USChem, Beta Color, ITW, Vosschemie, Carsystem and the list goes on.
In 1994 SAPE opened an agency in Victoria , concentrating on the Capital Equipment market. SAPE has representation in Victoria that covers all corners of the ever-increasing market. The Victorian arm acquired a new facility in 2005, in Moorabbin. This new facility now houses The Automotive Innovation Centre Victoria – proving SAPE's dominance in the Victorian Capital Equipment market.
In 1996 SAPE acquired Prestige Paint & Equipment Supplies in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Queensland . These two branches also distribute Glasurit Refinishing Products and have access to SAPE full consumable and equipment range.
SAPE works closely with an extensive line of distributors and resellers covering virtually all corners of Australia and New Zealand .
To date SAPE are continually establishing new links with companies overseas, sending a team to all the major international trade events. SAPE has not only established itself locally as the premier supplier in Australia , but is now recognised worldwide for our leadership and innovation.
At SAPE we are constantly searching the globe for the most innovative products to ensure the Australian Collision Repair Industry remains on par with the rest of the world.
